She showed a subtle strength
unaware that she was smiling
she held the space inside
so high
and deep into the ground
she died
She shook hands
with the skeleton-man
and he took her in
though she broke his hand
The earth had swallowed her
skin and bone
Death had borrowed her
and still she shone
.
She followed the dead
into darkness and rest
until no light recided
in her skeleton-chest
Fed by the stillness
and danced by the night
she left the chambres
to seek out the light
At first it was blinding
unable to see
but then looking back
from the mirror
was me
A subtle strength
shining from my pair of eyes
A subtle strength smiling
from someone who dies
.
